Recently a customer asked me if I could add a beer cap to the butt cap of their new fly rod.
I thought about it, and I seldom turn down a chance to try to take care of a customer and especialy do something different. I like to differentiate myself from the rest of the rod companies and most especially I want the rod we make to be a reflection of the user.
I like beer... I like making rods... lets do it.
And so we did.
Here you can see an example of this feature we offer on our rods.
To have this done, simply send us two or three caps and we will add them to your rod that is being built for you. There is no charge for this feature... it is just good fun.
It is important to state that we have no affiliation with any beer company nor can we advertise a specific brand... Although I am most fond of our local brewery (Saranac).
New Blue Line Bargin Rod hits the shelves April 1st
On a recent fly fishing workshop that Artie and I attended, we made some pretty sweet rods just for the casting competition. The rods we made were 8 foot 6 inch 6 weight 2 piece Blue Lines.
They were built with special edition rubber and cork fullwells handles, Big Game reel seats with either box elder or green burl ash.
The rods we also made with super over-sized guides, size 5 and 6 single foots. They also came with our signature large tip top and feather inlay. Rod case included was an extruded mill finish 1 7/8 inch diameter aluminum tube with rod bag.

This series is a work horse, medium to medium fast action. It has a thicker butt section, lower modulus graphite which makes it very durable and very fun to fish. I love these rods for bass and pike. The 7 and 8 weights are good for light weight Saltwater fishing, but are not my recommendation for Bonefish and Redfish. The 9 weights and 10 weights are great for Salmon. We are close to the Salmon River in Pulaski NY and we have seen many rods get destroyed for one reason or another. But of all our rods, this rod blank has survived more than any other. The 7 foot 6 inch 4 weight is my favorite rod in this line. It packs small and has a very smooth medium action for a 4 piece short rod.

Adirondack Blue Line
The action of the Blue Line is a mix between medium and medium fast. The blanks are now only available in 2, 4 and 5 piece rods. The 4 piece blanks are in my opinion the fastest and most crisp of all the blanks in this series. The 5 piece blanks are very smooth and are only about an ounce heavier than a 2 piece blank. The 2 piece blanks are all true medium action blanks until you get to the 7 weight range and they begin to stiffen up slightly.
I recommend the Blue Line for freshwater fly-fishing. I also recommend the 7 weights and larger for big game freshwater fishing. The lower modulus blank yields a little more durable blank. For the money, we feel the Blue Line offers our customer the best value and the best savings considering its attributes. The Blue Line has always been a great seller for us.
