Symposium Update, Bucks for Browns, Next Meeting
stocking two years ago.
The 2010 fly tying symposium for kids and adults was a hit. All together we had about 155 people attend the event and in the end we taught about 38 kids to tie flies.
We hope that next year we will be able to have the event again, and that we see you there.
BUCKS 4 Browns Update
Last year at the Symposium we raised a fair amount of money, but unfortunately the state and many of the hatcheries did not want us to stock because of some rare diseases that were going around. We kept the money in the fund and also consulted with Morrissville College and the State about the best time to stock fish. The consult reveled that the spring is the best time. Many of you will be happy to hear that this spring we will be stocking at least 500 healthy brown trout into the trophy section of the West Canada Creek. If you are interested, please come to out next meeting April 6th at 7pm to hear the news and details. The only way you can find out about the stocking is to come to this meeting or the following meeting in May, after that it will be a mystery as to where they will be. We have had many issues in the past with poachers and we prefer not to release to the public when the stocking is. However, we will need help and it is a great event to do with young kids.
April 6th Meeting
Tuesday April 6th will be our next meeting. Our events will include. For details where the meeting is click here.
- 6:00 fly tying for kids. This will be a follow up from the Symposium. If you are a child please come to the event with hooks, fly tying vise and tools. We will have plenty of fly tying materials that have been donated to the club by John Patterson.
- 7:00, half hour home video on fishing a remote Adirondack Pond. We have the pleasure of talking to a member who has footage of fishing for Brook Trout in a well known but very remote pond. What to know how he did, come find out.
- 7:45, quick meeting about our bucks 4 browns stocking.

Bart Chabot:
Hi Jordan, Some of our guys at clearwater TU wished they could have attended your BUCKS 4 BROWNS seminar, but they were part of the committee putting on our Chapter fund raiser banquet on March 6th. Last year, Glen Kuhles and I attended and enjoyed the activities on St. Pat’s day and were able to give a tantalizing report to stimulate interest in attending. We were disappointed your day was our day but know it couldn’t be avoided. We are compelled to set a date for the next year to secure the hotel and, barring a glitch, the tentative date is March 5th.
Hope to see you all long before that , of course. Be well & great fishing !
Bart
